Delta Dental Coverage Availability & Fees

Your coverage availability and fees with Delta Dental will depend on which plan you’re enrolled in. Some, like the basic PPO plan, are designed to cover routine care appointments at a low monthly premium. Others, like the Premier PPO and HMO plans, have more extensive coverage with more favorable terms in exchange for a higher premium. Many young patients with generally good oral health prefer cost-effective premiums and aren’t overly concerned about needing extensive dental work. Seniors, meanwhile, tend to opt for more coverage that’s more readily available.

Delta Dental’s HMO plan isn’t subject to annual maximums or deductibles. But if you’re enrolled in one of the PPO plans, these are terms you should keep in mind. Your deductible is the amount of money you’ll have to spend on dental care out of pocket before your coverage for certain services will “kick in.” An annual maximum is the most amount of coverage your plan will provide in a given year.

Note that routine checkups and cleanings and diagnostic X-rays are excluded from these terms, and will be covered regardless of whether you’ve met your deductible or not. It’s confusing, but remember that our team is here to help!

The Benefits of Seeing an In-Network Dentist

When looking over your Delta Dental insurance plan, you might notice that each service has two types of coverage: in-network and out-of-network. Dentists who are “in-network” have negotiated rates with Delta Dental, and will be able to apply more of your plan’s coverage. “Out-of-network” dentists haven’t negotiated with Delta Dental, but often still accept these insurance plans.

You’ll be able to use your benefits at an out-of-network office – you just won’t receive as much coverage as you would at an in-network office.
